Causes

¡@ In general, people think that anemia is caused from lack of nutrition. It is only one cause. There are still many causes to verify. There are four common causes of this disease as following:

¡´ Imbalanced nutrient of red blood cells (RBCs)

¡@ Bone marrows need sufficient and balanced nutrient to form red bone cells. Bone marrows cannot form mature red blood cells under imbalanced nutrient so as to cause anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is caused by lack of iron. Megaloblastic anemia is caused by lack of Vitamin B12 and folic acid.

¡´ Massive Bleeding

¡@ Tissue fluid would flood into blood vessels after massive bleeding; massive bleeding would also reduce red blood cells of each unit capacity or hemoglobins. If blood loss exceeds 50% of blood volume, death might be happened. 10% to 20% of blood loss may cause hypovolemic shock.

¡´ Much destruction of red blood cells

¡@ Red blood cells are responsible to carry oxygen in the blood and would be destroyed by the spleen around 120 days after. All the time bone marrows supply new red blood cells to continually carry oxygen in the blood. If red blood cells are destroyed congenially like having Thalassaemia or favism, or destroyed by acquired factors like reaction of wrong-type blood transfusion, blood cells would be destroyed rapidly without immediate supply of new red blood cells that are formed from bone marrows. In the mean time, haem would be dissolved outside blood cells in the bloods so as to cause so-called hemolytic anemia.

¡´ Decreasing ability of blood formation from bone marrows

¡@ Aplastic anemia is caused by deficiency of ancestor cells (progenitor cells, or stem cells) in blood cells of bone marrows or bone formation tissues. In addition to reduction of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets would also decrease. Resistance against disease would decrease if decreasing number of white blood cells. Bleeding would happen if decreasing number of blood platelets.
¡@ Moreover, some chemicals including medicines would also affect blood formation ability. Infection of obscure diseases or having too much radioactive rays would also cause side effects and anemia.
